Building Benchmarking
Building benchmarking involves comparing a building's performance to its past performance, similar buildings, or established benchmarks, with the goal of driving improvement.
We use the EPA's Energy STAR Portfolio Manager to track and measure building energy and water consumption, enabling us to perform in-depth analysis of energy use. Based on the building's Energy STAR score, we also provide recommendations on whether to pursue Energy STAR certification.
Several U.S. cities have enacted benchmarking ordinances that require commercial and multifamily buildings to disclose energy and water consumption annually. BEM Energy Engineering has been assisting building owners in meeting these benchmarking requirements on time and at a lower cost.
The following cities have local benchmarking ordinances for commercial and multifamily buildings. If you have an upcoming compliance deadline or are new to these ordinances, please contact us — we're happy to help!
And remember, your first benchmarking is on us — absolutely free!
