In the energy industry, the metric "Simple Payback" is commonly used to assess the financial viability of energy efficiency projects. However, we believe this approach is flawed and should only be used for smaller projects.
For investment-grade projects, we go beyond Simple Payback by capturing the full cash flow (including energy consumption, maintenance, and repair costs of existing and proposed systems) and applying discount factors over the entire life cycle of the equipment or system.
